5 things dental recruiters need to do this Christmas

It's surprising to many that the Christmas period is no longer seeing businesses winding down and getting quieter. And this is just as true in the dental sector too. So now Christmas is nearly upon us, we're reminding dental recruiters of five things they should all be doing at this festive time of year.

Set your out of office notifications

It's quick and easy to do with today's systems, but we're often surprised by how many people forget to do this simple thing. So make you sure you remember to do this. No one wants clients or candidates waiting for a response to their emails, not knowing if they're being ignored or failing to make a shortlist. So do yourself (and them) a favour, and let them know when the office is closed, if there's an out of hours phone number, and when you'll be back open for business again to get back to them.

Send seasonal greetings to clients and candidates

You take all year building relationships and a rapport with your clients and candidates, so don't forget to thank them for their custom and wish them all the best for the festive season. We're not suggesting you send out packed hampers and bottles of wine to all and sundry, but Christmas cards or festive emails won't break the budget but are great at keeping in touch with your database. Don't forget to include any information about payroll dates, opening hours or out-of-office contact details, as appropriate.

Review, reflect and plan

It's the end of the year and you've hopefully hit your targets, delivered against your objectives and are ready for a well-deserved rest. Before you dash off, it's worth taking some time to review and reflect. Consider all that you've achieved (or not) and hopefully, pat yourself on the back. Tidy your desk, draft an outline plan for the New Year, and schedule any emails and social posts to go out.

Identify priorities

Now you've had a chance to think about all you've achieved this year, you can also start to think about where you should be focusing your efforts in the year ahead. Think about the priorities you had last year and consider whether they're still the same priorities for the coming year. Actually, take the time to write down your priorities too. Doing so helps solidify them in your mind, and will act as a clear reminder when you're back in the office in the New Year.

Carry on recruiting

At this time of year, more than any other, you can steal a march on your competitors. If there are people wanting or needing to find new work, or companies looking to recruit, keep on working right through the festive period and you'll be a step ahead of the competition. This is especially true for dental practices that need a temporary cover over the festive break, particularly where an emergency cover is required. Carry on recruiting, advertising your jobs on and you could start the new year with a healthy candidate pipeline and a strong order book.

So, post a job now and get ahead of the competition!

And, Merry Christmas from all of us here at
