We are looking for a GDC register dentist to join our busy NHS practice in Newark, Nottinghamshire, to take over an existing NHS patient list, and achieve approximately 7000 UDA’s annually at £12.00 per UDA, also, with an scope for private work.
The practice has modern, air-conditioned, fully equipped surgeries, paperless/fully computerised with SOE IT software throughout with EDI transmissions, digital radiographs, rotary endodontics, on-site CPD courses, and qualified, experienced support staff, management team and hygienist.
NHS performer number essential.
50% split on private fees and Laboratory fees.
Working hours Monday to Friday

Competitive rate of pay. Purpose of the Job: An exciting opportunity has arisen within our dental practice for a GDC registered dental nurse. Horncastle Dental Practice is a busy private Practice and we are currently looking for a Dental Nurse to join our great and enthusiastic team. Candidate must be flexible, have a good work ethic, eager to learn, punctual and be willing to go the extra mile while performing their duties. Duties include assisting the dentist, cross infection control and other duties as required. To work alongside the dentist and hygienist, assisting in all dental procedures, whilst keeping all working and common areas clean and free from hazards by following strict cross infection and health and safety standards. To assist with reception or any clerical duties as required and perform such other tasks as reasonably requested by Horncastle Dental Care and the CQC Manager. The working hours to be discussed.

Employment Duties: To perform high quality dental nursing whilst assisting each dentist and hygienist/therapist in all dental procedures in a safe and effective manner in accordance with the ‘Code of Ethics’ of the British Association of Dental Nurses, and GDC requirements and recommendations for dentists and their staff. The performance of these duties is under the reasonable directions of the CQC Manager made known from time to time as appropriate.To establish and maintain friendly, productive working relationships with all members of the dental team.To lead a team of dental nurses, offering support, knowledge and guidance throughout the working day.To assist with the supervision of trainee dental nurses at the Practice.To assist at the reception and perform other clerical duties including stock ordering, arranging repairs and servicing of equipment, preparing monthly reports for the accounts department.To take reasonable care for her/his own health and safety and that of others who may beaffected by her/his acts or omissions at work. Key Tasks: Offer knowledge and support to all dental nurses at all times.Resolve nurse and dentist queries relating to stock and surgery issues.Assist the CQC Manager on the implementation of all practice policies and procedures.Monitor and order required stock within set budgets, as set out by Horncastle Dental Care.Ensure stock rotation, and disposal of expired stock on a monthly basis. Arrange repair and maintenance of handpieces and small equipment for all surgeries.Carry out monthly surgery checks throughout the practice, making recommendations and providing training for dental nurses when needed.Carry out a monthly review of emergency drug kit, checking each expiry date, condition of packaging and that each item is complete, keeping comprehensive records, and ordering to replenish as necessary.Setting up and preparing the surgery before the start of each session.Clean and disinfect all equipment and working surfaces to the required standards at the end of each session.Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practice’s health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions.Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order.Provide chairside assistance, ensuring that the correct equipment is available. Always ensure the care and welfare of patients in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner.Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed.Observe patient confidentiality at all times.Perform chaperoning duties for dentists, hygienists/therapists when treating patients.Handle all substances in accordance with Health and Safety policies.Be familiar and comply with all Health and Safety rules and guidance, including COSHH, infection control, and ensure safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste.Process and save digital radiographs.Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received and fitted.Ensure all necessary laboratory work is returned and ready for each session.Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery.Ensure computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored.Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records.Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice, including the duties and tasks of receptionist as required.Attend and participate in practice meetings.Undergo training as may be required to develop your skills and abilities.Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR.Act in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct.Assist in keeping clean the surfaces, sinks, floors of the surgeries and common areas of the practice reception, office and staff room.Complete daily surgery diary, keeping accurate records of the necessary observations in line with company procedure.Participate in HTM 01-05 audit.Maintain clear autoclave records in line with company procedure.Complete manual cleaning audit in line with company procedure.Build and maintain good working rapport with external service providers, e.g dental supply reps, hazardous waste collection companies.The job description and allocation of particular responsibilities may be amended by agreementfrom time to time.
